I drove mine 3.5 miles the other day, not fun. My big mini 10 ton gets tracked back and forth all day when it gets used anyway so I figured it wouldn't hurt. Between grabbing brush and carrying it to the pile or grading it drives almost as much as it digs. If it's less than a mile I'd drive it every time.
