Try taking the grease zirk out of the pin in the drive head and let the pressure out. The seal is usually so tight that air or grease can’t escape and it can cause pressure on the cutter bar and guards.

Something else to think about, is the back of the cutter bar worn out and rounded and the new guards have a square edge where the cutter bar rides and causing problems?

I did grease (2pumps) it again after I had taken the zirk off and got the pressure out before when I took the old sickle out. I can try that again to just double check and be sure.

I just want to make sure I’m understanding the second part correctly. When you say the back of the cutter bar are you talking about the back of the piece that knives are screwed onto? And lastly when your saying the the new guards have a square edge are you talking the gap on the guard that the knives move back and forth through or the the open side of the guard the cutter bar rides back and forth on? Sorry for asking so many questions. I just want to make sure I’m understanding you correctly.
