Spin the head by hand and have someone closely watch the guard with their fingers/hands on the ground at all times. Over greasing the sickle head can cause issues at the end and if they are like the older heads there are special end guards to use for the first ~3 or so.
I didn’t mention this but when we replaced we checked the sickle head and moved it up to the proper gap. You’re talking about the knuckle that the sickle is bolted to on the end that drives the sickle from the wobble box? and we put the first 4 guards on with the one without that back tab on each side. We also put the special guard on the very outside section of each section. When we try to spin the head with the belt it is fairly hard to move the belt. Is that normal? |
