| Hello everyone hope your harvest has gone well if you are harvesting already! We bought a used 2018 macdon fd140 double drive header and we replaced the sickle and guards. After we replaced them we ran it like normal to make sure there isn’t any bad wear going on and we found a lot of hot sickles. We tried bending the guard with a pipe a little bit and that seemed to work on some but we poured water on the sickles and guards as it was running to see if they would smoke or not and we can’t get them to stop smoking.we did try to add some C clips in to change the pitch of the guard and that didn’t help rather. The very end guard on the left side of the header gets hot to the point to where the guard turns red/orange. We have tried grinding a tiny bit off of that and it doesn’t seem to help any. I have tried talking to the techs at our local dealer and can’t seem to find anything out other than what we have done so far. This is day 4 of trying to figure this out. Does anyone have any ideas to fix this issue? I am lost on what to do here.
Thank you!!
