Jeffersonville, OH | I think 2010-2011?
Everything I've read is they want to shift the focus back to equipment and technology for agriculture, instead of trying to be a one stop shop for equipment, grain handling, and livestock.
Speaking for myself I think they saw it as a way to get into emerging markets...China, India, Africa, etc...with the grain and livestock products, then move in with the equipment. I think what they found out was it was easier to just get in with the equipment? These are not any views I have talked at length with anyone at AGCO about, as the GSI side has always been different...just kind of reading articles, reading between the lines of conversations with folks, etc.
I honestly know very little of the GSI side of things, as we've never dealt in bins, dryers, etc...other than some of my customers needing me to look at their dryer while I was working on their tractor...uh, OK, I do have a voltmeter, but no idea where to look!!
