Business model may work now, sooner or later when construction enters a down cycle, and it will, watch the blood flow then!
Scott I think was/is a AGCO dealer in Platteville, WI, seen their ads in the past, not sure if they are still there or how good they are.
They were last I knew...no idea how they are on service/support these days, has been some changes since I knew the folks up there 20 years ago.
I don't disagree with the construction side, we all figured the blood would flow from the Challenger dealers in 2008-2009 when Ag took a little down turn, and construction took a GIANT one, but AG rebounded pretty quickly and they used it to float a while longer.
Us old AGCO dealer have seen this coming for years, but to be very honest, it lasted longer than we all figured. I understand some of why AGCO did things the way they did, but also don't understand others. It's all a matter of perspective, and the regime in charge at the time. One or 2 people different in key places in the company, and thigs are very different over the course of 20 years...but, we can't armchair QB, we need to play the game we have, and that is what us good, old school AGCO guys have done since day one in 1990...and most of us have done it well.
