IL | That's the Cat way, it's part of the company culture and has been for at least 15 years. I was a welder at cat in Decatur and they walked us 3 at a time from our work area to a conference room then the front gate. 900 of us got walked out that night on second shift December 23, 2009. This was a day after an all employee meeting about everyone having optional overtime between Christmas and new years. The reason they walked us out 3 at a time was they tried a large group on 1st shift and a guy charged the stage then stabbed a member of management. UAW 751 didn't lift a finger to help.
None of these companies care one second about you, me, or anyone. They are there to make money not friends. The second they can't make money off you they will discard you like the trash. The only chance we have of getting a real shake is loyalty to the handful of single store family owned dealerships left. Leave these small dealerships good Google reviews when they do right by you. Call regional reps and let them know if you like the service you get from the small dealer. | |
