Marshalltown, IA | I’d be really interested to see the return on a $750,000 investment in depreciable equipment that’s going to need maintenance and etc. I think I’d rather spend 20% that on a couple 40,000 bushel bins and the other 600,000 as the down payment on a farm or two(depending on where you live). I’ve consistently combined 20-21% corn and taken 4-5 points out of it with fans. Guessing Sub $4.00 corn will have the bankers putting brakes on people borrowing money for setups like you’re talking about….and if they don’t(and you’re borrowing any remote amount of short, middle or long term money) I’d consider a new banker when he asks for paid for land as collateral for a grain setup. | |
