| It all depends on the kid, but having them put some skin in the game can make them more cautious on how they spend their time and money. I think unnecessary debt at that age is a very bad idea, I would tell him to apply for scholarships and try to work a little on the side. Some of the most successful people I knew were old timers that never made it past 8th grade, but had a good work ethic. In my opinion many university's can be either a real blessing or a lasting curse on a kid. | |
