Subject: RE: Red Clover taking over

Leesburg, Ohio
Hopefully you realize that most years, red clover will almost always grow back for a second cutting thicker than it appeared in first cutting. This is totally normal, and does not mean you grasses are getting permanently "choked out". The grasses will still be there, and will be back next year just fine in most cases.
Cool season grasses tend to not grow well in the hot summer months (who would have thought!). The clover comes back fast if it has much moisture at all, and simply outgrows the grasses during that time. Doesn't mean the grasses are gone.
Don't panic...make the second cutting and move on. Wrapped or dry, it will make decent cow hay.
