Iowa | Anyone have any experience with a 3pt setup that could apply anhydrous and worked as a decent row cultivator. Our farm has historically put most of our nitrogen on with anhydrous side dressing it. We tend to get much better utilization than most we talk to with this system and are happy with it. I'm wanting to upgrade our current bar to something that I can variable rate with and a couple other things. I just got to thinking that if I'm out there making a pass why not see if I can knock out some resistant weeds while I'm at it...
I looked around a little and it seems like Hiniker 6000's were about the only factory cultivators that could also apply nh3.
I'm sure I'm not the only one who has thought of this, anyone else ever done it? I would think something like a 3 shovel cultivator with the center shovel replaced with the nh3 shank would work best because the side shovels would also act as pretty effective closers. I doubt most row cultivators are strong enough to handle the nh3 shank though. Maybe I should be looking at a modified strip till unit? | |
