Subject: Soybean Corn rotation w/ cover crops

Western MN
For those of you who no till beans into corn stalks and then strip till bean stubble and plant corn into the strips or leave bean stubble in fall and then VT in the spring and plant corn what cover crops do you use when and how do you get them established? Seems like a good idea but I don’t see anyone around here do it much. We have mostly heavy clay on our farm with some rolling hills and some flat fields with a couple gravel/sand strips here and there. It seems to me the cc roots would be needed to break up some compaction if not using a chisel plow or ripper any more. I don’t think we could just vt/no till/ and strip till without out something to break up some compaction. Any advice is appreciated and maybe I’m off on some of my thinking. Thanks everyone!
