Subject: Lamb, calf creep feed. Molasses problem

We have used the same creep recipe for years and it works well. SBM, ground corn, mineral, molasses. Our local coop switched to a different brand of molasses now and my God the flies are awful with it. Opened the lid this morning and there were so many flys and Bees in there I couldn’t see the feed. That can’t be a good thing. Im sure they are crapping all over the feed and lord knows what else. I do have some left over molasses from last year I can get by with. They don’t seam to bother it near as much. I had wondered about switching to a protein pellet and mixing that with whole corn instead of using our sbm mineral corn mix. I know pellets are more of a Midwest things and trucking things up here has been a fight for us in the past.

Curious if anyone in the western states uses a pellet and where you might get it from? Called Hubbard and big gain but I’d have to drive half cross the country for it. Pricy stuff. Might just have to locate the old molasses dealer and call it a day
