S Illinois
On corn Sept contracts FND is 8-30. Most non-commercials won't play anywhere near delivery so most will be out a minimum of a week or 2 before that. Very similar to farmers with Sept based basis contracts. With a 14 cent carry many shorts will just roll and pick up that easy 14 cents. Shorts in the Dec contract have until the end of Nov.

For beans, the days are similar. Possibility of delivery always starts at the end of the month prior to the contract month. OI in the bean contracts show that most of the fund shorts are in the Nov as open interest is significantly higher than Aug or Sept contract months.
