Subject: RE: The American Tractor?

I am thinking that White which had acquired Oliver, Minneapolis Moline and Cockshutt produced a model called the American fairly recently. Seems it was available in Green for the Oliver folks, Yellow for the Moline lovers and Red for the Cockshutt fans. I don't remember actually seeing one in person but they had an Ad with one of each color parked in a triangle.

I guess time has a way of slipping by. In the 1989 Farm Equipment Showcase magazine for machinery dealers, White-New Idea Farm Equipment Company has a full page ad announcing "The Perfect Utility Tractor Coming Soon." which references this "American-made" utility tractor. Not that recent in my books.

Actually demo'd a green version of this tractor pulling a sprayer in the mud. Tractor worked fine but the transmission was clunky....like an Oliver. Hardly ideal for a utility tractor.
