My doctor doesn't put much faith in the digital test either. I forget what the research was, but basically got widely varying results based on the particular finger and evaluation.
Medical knowledge changes over time. It is not static. That is good. Not everything "known" today will be proven correct over time. If current medical knowledge was perfect, nothing need change. But it isn't perfect, therefore to improve it must have changes.
