Subject: RE: Cleaning Water in Livestock Pond?

SW OH
It might not be worth the trouble. I used to move my herd to a rented farm in the summer. There was a good creek nearby that I would pump from into a 3,000 gallon tank that fed a stock tank with a float. It was a hassle to deal with. There was a cess pool in the pasture as well. Part of an old shipping canal from the 1800s. Lined with hundreds of sycamore trees. There were over 140 blue herring nests in those trees according to the Audubon society. The reason I called it a cess pool was from the dropped fish parts, the bird sheet that turned the ground around white, and the water never moved.

My cows would drink that just as much as the clean, clear creek water. The land owner told me his grandpa never watered his cows and they drank from the cess pool. I eventually gave up on the creek water and never had any problems.
