Subject: RE: John Deere 6068 sleeves dropped

Mount Vernon, WA
I visit my local machine shop on occasion and they're always working on blocks of various makes cutting counterbores or re-sleeving pitted blocks where the o-rings sit. Everything else being equal, I'll take a parent bore block over a sleeved engine any day. No head gasket failures to worry about, and no leaking o-rings to deal with either.

Parent bore blocks are every bit as tough as liners. I've removed the heads from parent bore engines with 10,000 hours that still show the crosshatch in the cylinders.
