Midwest

Where should I look to order the random sizes I've planted, donated, or lost over the years? I've got a few "sets" that are complete minus one random one like say a 3/8" drive 7/16" standard or 1/2" drive 7/8" deep socket etc

East of Broken Bow
Our local CarQuest shop sells Tekton. Good for the price, lifetime no questions asked guarantee.
Our Ace Hardware sells Craftsman sockets individually. Most are imported now, and quality seems good, but not quite to the old USA ones.
Menards and Home Depot both sell individual sockets, but IMO, the Tekton or Craftsman are better.

Honestly, if you are in no big hurry, Amazon and Ebay will often have some of the old Made in USA stock show up from time to time. Biggest problem there is that they usually run out of the most often lost sizes pretty fast. I did recently get a couple USA Craftsman sockets in 1/2 and 9/16, I think I got the last 9/16 they had available at the time.

Also, don't discount other USA brands on ebay/Amazon. Sometimes you can get an Armstrong or Williams for hardly any more than an import socket.

Lastly, HarryJEpstein.com specializes in USA made tools, but availability can be all over the board. Last I checked, they still had some of the Nebraska made Eagle Grip locking pliers left. Not cheap, but very, very high quality. They charge shipping, but throw in some other tools, and it isn't bad per piece.

I go to the habitat for humanity restore regularly. Not a great selection but a decent quality socket or screwdriver for 50 cents is a good deal.

I go to Menards as well, probably not the best quality ever but it’s a socket, it grabs a nut, and if it’s one I planted somewhere before I might as well buy economically as I will likely plant it again….

So I’m going to assume you want to match what you have. Go to those selling new ones. Either store or online, eBay is great to buy good quality fill in stuff like snap on.

I buy directly from Tekton off their website. If you set up an account with them you get 10% off your purchases. They also have a lifetime guarantee. I know that doesn't help if you lose a wrench or socket & I've rarely had one break.

Post exactly what size, type of sockets you need. I have a couple buckets of loose sockets. Mostly 1/2” drive sae. From junk to useable to decent brands. Stuff like disc bine, pickup truck has its own ratchet, or breaking bar w/correct socket. Mostly S-K Wayne. My sets have two 3/4” sockets so I donkt need to move from breaking to ratchet. *before I bought a impact* ;)

if I need replacement sockets I usually go to a pawn shop and do a little digging in there socket boxes. Just the other day got a 4 mm craftsman socket for adjusting headlights on pick up.

I've used Amazon for that. I was missing a number of Craftsman sockets from a set, so I specifically looked for very similarly-marked Craftsman sockets on Amazon, in the hopes that they would be similar quality. I expect Ebay would be a decent option as well, particularly for older sockets.

I bought a couple pails of sockets from a scrapper's estate auction, Craftsman had a lot of different sockets over the years, probably made by a lot of different suppliers. I guess other brands including my favorite SK Wayne did somewhat the same thing.

Pawn shops were great until ebay came along, now the old farts that sell on ebay grab up the good stuff as soon as it hits the shop...
