we had a power outage this morning only lasted about 15 20 seconds, but after the power came back on my battery back up pack is buzzing, did I fry it? I turned it off and restarted it but it still buzzes.
It is old, probably older than I can remember.

Had an APC UPS unit and when the battery needed replacing it was ~75% of the cost of a new one, so bought a new one.
But let's see what the UPS is designed to do:
It's designed to protect your computer in case of brown-outs & spikes, and in case of spikes IT can get fried, it IS designed for that so that
your computer doesn't get damaged and the battery gives you time to safely shut-down your computer.
Once that happens it has done its job and needs to be replaced.
