Subject: RE: Two Years in a Row

Central Alberta
When I moved from a moist area to a dry area, I was a bit surprised at how the crops seemed to start out well each year, and then invariably get hit by drought. Most farmers in the area farm thousands of acres, and count on that one good year out of about 25 when they have good crops, make a lot of money and get ahead. The rest of the time, it's just a slow crawl backwards.

Mind you, in the moist area, most of the farms were a lot smaller, maybe a section or two, but they always had good crops to harvest. I can't say one area was better than the other. The price of land had a lot to do with it.
