NWMO | I haven’t had any issues this year running this mixture, but maybe others have had issues?
Liberty is a group 10 herbicide. It’s a contact herbicide that destroys leaf tissue and doesn’t not translocate well within the plant. Great for breaking down small weeds and doing significant damage to large weeds
Round up is a group 9 herbicide that blocks certain amino acids from being taken up. This is what causes the plants to die slowly over 1-2 weeks.
Johnsongrass is a tall grass plant with a large culm underground that can easily survive the strain of liberty by itself. Spraying the round up with the liberty allows both to be ingested by the plant simultaneously. The liberty goes to work quickly on the main leaf tissue while the round up is translocated and can go to work on the root system, giving a more effective kill. That’s why we use both at the same time | |
