Subject: Re: BBI Spreader Variable Rate

Another great question and I really asked a number of people and learned from them. This is what I learned,

The ISOBUS controller is really plug and play. Simply plug the device into the port and they will find each other - share information - then the terminal in the tractor will allow the program to be displayed and to run.

Now the variable rate files are another thing. Green Star has its own file format so any file would have to be converted. In looking into this I learned even more. There are a couple of ways a file can be converted according to the users I asked.

1. APEX - John Deere program avalible through dealers. Don't know the cost.

2. A Grower in west Tennesse told me about a free download from John Deere called "prescription file converter". He claimed he used it to convert his agronomists files to a format his Green Star could use. He said it was available on line on the John Deere site.

3. I have also been told that SST Stratus will do the conversion.

Now let me be clear - I have tried none of these so I really don't know. I just went out and asked a bunch of people I know who use it now. Hope this helps,
