While certainly a stronger signal would work, it is similar to signal jamming. It could also be a magic key that when received by the drone, it may start ignoring your controller or just be a higher priority instruction. china probably doesn't want them going over their military bases either, and if you just broadcast a signal that the drone can receive that is a higher priority, then it can be sent in a different direction or it just disables it entirely and it drops out of the air.
