Deep state, shallow pool | I drive across Iowa and Illinois. Even with the flooding in northern Iowa the crop looks fantastic. The best is in Ben Reinsche’s crop area. After the drought last year eastern Iowa was planted early and soaked up all the rain. They now have a full profile. Now I understand why my relatives moved there and settled directly from Germany.
Illinois crops look the best. It’s the tallest greenest crop I have ever seen for June. You guys deserve all the crap you get for crying wolf every year. Your crop looks like the best in the United States and you’re still saying it’s burning up. I don’t think Illinois has ever seen a true drought. This will probably be a plus 2.5% above trend year since we are acting like 2014 consistently. That is a national crop of 186 for the record.
Now I can crawl back into my hole after stirring up the pot.
