Holland, Indiana (SW IN) | CC NT planting is not a Peterbilt, Trophy wife, or a Big house --
It's hard to get past how beautiful a field of tilled black ground, 6" tall corn is
We struggled this year with timely killing of our CC
Sprayer break downs, CC grew quickly, slugs were terrible
I'm now thinking we will have a decent crop but it's been a struggle of a year
SO what are we changing this fall AND next spring
This fall Not planting all Annual Rye grass ARG
MAY leave some of our flatter fields just lay in SB stubble NO CC
We'll be PO'd when the river comes up and floats all the SB residue away
I think for our soil types ARG is a great product BUT a little hard to manage
trying "probably" winter barley 20#, or rape seed 5-6# (on flatter ground will seed Rape early)
Next spring kill CC at 4-6" tall (bought a drone to help with wet fields)
We're planting all corn next year --think we'll drag some type of one pass VT tool before planting
thinking "some" loose soil will help with stand establishment
What are you planning?
