Subject: RE: registered dietician doing an interview

Southwestern Minnesota
Well, I don't know if I would say "reasonable". I am familiar with Michelle Hurn and did watch this video. She and I would agree on some points, and disagree on many others. I, as an RD, would not recommend a keto or carnivore diet. I'm certainly not anti-meat, in fact I like meat quite a lot. But I think there are nutrients that are not included by being on such a restrictive diet and that isn't healthy in the long run. But for sure, a lower in carb diet would be prudent for Americans. I also think Americans eat way too many processed foods and I think that the farmer gets a bad rap for this, when it really is the processing and technology that has allowed us to break down food into nutrients and then reassemble food for the consumer.
For example, if you consider an apple and then start processing it, you get applesauce, apple juice, apple fruit snacks, etc. Apple is a food and all the rest begin to be processed until you get a completely processed product that has no likeness to an apple. So, what about Spaghetti O's- noodles in tomato sauce- not exactly wheat and tomatoes....
Michelle Hurn has quite a past history with eating disorders, marathon runner, etc. She also has a book that she heavily promotes and gets revenue from. I am simply a farm girl, who got to go to college and study food and nutrition and have had a long career in helping people with nutrition-related diseases as well as general, healthy eating.
