Subject: RE: Row Cleaners

Latimer, Iowa (north central)
My last planter I got without row cleaners and just put new openers on every year. I don’t have any plans to put cleaners on it. We wear out a set of disk openers in about 1.4 year so nice to not have to worry about in season. Don’t do any corn on corn but notill corn into heavy cover crops and small grain residue. Beans notilled into corn stubble and/with cereal rye.

Had clean sweeps on last planter but was constantly fighting air lines and leaky cylinders after a few years. Rye tends to pull air lines out.

All of the single disk air seeders work just fine with no row cleaners. Our 1890 will plant through pretty much anything.
