WC IL | Southern Illinois as a whole doesn't have a lot of moisture holding capacity. Plenty of other places aren't all flat, black prairie soils. My neighbor just across the road has a corn APH of about 185, mine is 240 . Lots of difference in the soils. Have seen yield monitor vary 120 bushels from one end of a field 1/2 mile long while going through 7 soil types in a decent corn year.
Some of the folks here like to paint with a broad brush.
Since I have seen a couple of pictures of nice looking corn in Minnesota, does that mean the guys who have 3 feet of water on their fields are just cherry picking a spot, and they are just whiners? | |
