| You would think of the generator on a trailer as being an island. As long as all power is flowing within the island then no need to protect from power flowing off the island. If you are standing beside trailer and touch the island there really is no issue since current needs a path to return through. You touching the trailer and standing on dirt does not have a loop back to the trailer.
If your trailer feeds a second site then it is no longer an island and now you have the possibility of setting up a loop and so additional grounding precautions are needed. I would guess your solar inverter example used solar panels set up away from the trailer so you now have two locations with power flowing between them and therefore possibility of a return path through your body depending on what you touch. | |
