Subject: Northwest Iowa- Highway 18 From Hull to Rock Valley. An Honest Question.

NW IA
If you have traveled this section of road with a trailer you know what I'm asking about. I've hauled a couple of tractors and a few loads of small squares on 18 and thought my internal organs might have suffered permanent damage. I try to avoid it, but it's not always possible.

The question. Why has so much time passed with nothing being done? Wouldn't the contractor be bonded for this and be required to rip it up and start over?

I recently asked an area resident about it and he said the contractor had offered to shave the surface to smooth it. I don't know if that attempt has been made, but that sounds utterly worthless to me.

The problem is not limited to Highway 18, sections of 60 need to be ground up and re-paved as well. I can't imagine that these conditions do not cause significant damage and expense for truckers.
