Pocahontas, Illinois | DeerCreek is right. Before the first coat of mud goes on, go through the whole place with a setting type joint compound. EZ Sand is what we use as well and usually 90 or 45. Just so you know, the number refers to the amount of time you have to work with the mud once it's mixed. The actual time is more like half the time listed. Anyhow, fill all the cracks, voids, messed up electrical boxes and whatnot with the EZ Sand. Remove all the excess so the mud is flush with the surrounding drywall. Next, use fiber mesh tape. On gaps at inside corners, you should flat tape mud at this stage. Put one edge of the tape flush with the corner and let the tape span the mud-filled gap with the remaining width of the tape lapping down onto the drywall. Other holes, boxes, etc... should be taped as well. It is important to get the mud in the void first, then make flush with a taping knife, then tape last. I highly recommend using the fiber mesh tape. You will like the results. Family owned residential and commercial construction since 1899. Your place will really start to come together quickly once the drywall goes up. | |
