S MN | I tried a platform head one time years ago, personally will not try that again. What works best for me is similar to what another poster said - take less rows. If 8 row head and severely lodged- take 5 or 6. You are watching your snouts on the outside rows stubble already harvested. Can run the combine faster to try to keep it close to full. Takes some practice to train yourself to look off to the side vs straight ahead. You will also pick up a few from the previous pass that may have gotten missed coming back the opposite way. You'll figure out how many rows to take to make a complete round for dumping on an end. Faster than going slow and trying to stay on the row using all rows | |
