Dad's last harvest was 1964 - but he did not know it! He died as we started 1965 harvest, I was 21. I took over in 1965 and "last harvest " was 2014 - one of our 'near drought' years, but fondly remember the "last" on the Case IH 2166, my 49th on my own. Best wheat was 1tonne/Ha! Sowing that 2014 crop was the "last" with the best air seeder I'd owned - Aussy made Gason 1830 air seeder on a Gason Culti-master 36ft bar. Pulled by a JD 8100 FWA. Did not want to sell all my plant in one big lot, so fed things onto a trading site bit by bit. Good results. Kept an Inter "S" line grain semi for a couple of years. Registered it "Commercial for harvest 2016, enjoyed my "last" harvest as a trucky! Sold the truck to neighbours before I did it again in 2017. So that was the last 'last!' Hard to know where the years until now have gone! |
