Iowa | Most stats don’t look terrible till you see if they’re looking at median or average (mean). Similar to net worth numbers discussed here last week- the average might be 1 million of net worth, but the median (middle guy in ranking first to last) maybe 140k - that’s a big difference, and that the bottom 50% are getting crushed.
I believe Thomas Jefferson was very distrustful of corporations as he believed that they would simply extract all the wealth from the working class - here we are 250 years later, and Covid was the biggest downfall of small businesses in American history - and we wonder why the middle is getting squeezed. | |
