Yes i would recalibrate the transmission.
I would actually try that before installing a new one.
If you have the service book, its not hard.
The instructions are in the service book
You should own one, if you plan on doing work yourself
If you are not a competent mechanic, then just hire it done.
I would probably say this is a good idea, and while you're at it, do a ground speed calibration as well. just to be safe.
