Fuel is only one part of the equation and gas is the expensive alternative to electricity. My wife had a Hybrid when they were deemed a virtue signaling car. It used its share of gas. I bought a couple lead/acid control batteries for it. It still needed oil and filter changes on the same interval as a regular model. Also needed air filters. I'm not sure how it would hold up in city driving where the trip might be no more than 5 miles on a cold winter day. The car would take about three miles of travel before the heater started to make a difference.
People poo-poo EV for winter driving and maybe in very cold places when distances are long, they have a point. For average city commuting, the EV beats the ICE, hands down when it's brutal wintry outside.

Since my gas engine only runs about half of the time, I reckon I can double my oil change interval.
It uses synthetic oil anyway.
