I could, but even with a 30ft I run into issues being able to follow the ground contours around here. Plus, I've read there's issues with the augers breaking on the 35ft heads.
I've ran our current one for 12 seasons now. We bought it new. So if I'm going to stick money into a head, I'd like to go new and get what is hopefully the best out there as we'll likely keep it for a long time.

I would go with Macdon. Parts are easily available from lots of places. Its a tried and true design. Head is designed to be rebuilt if wrecked.
We hit a pivot bridge about dusk one evening opening up a new field. Right side was pushed back a good foot or 2. Got it pulled apart as much as we could before it got dark. Called and got parts to repair it the next morning. Got the welder to meet us in the field. We were cutting by noon. Pretty impressive breakdown and repair time for something that would have been totaled if it were a different brand head. |
