Yep. Air is the best insulator there is, and lightning can still jump across several miles of it. A few inches of rubber doesn’t matter.

What usually keeps you safe in a piece of equipment is a good path to ground for the electrical charge to follow.


That's where the steel frame takes the electric jolt, around you to the ground.
