Williamsport IN | My number one pasture weed, been fighting it for years.
First thing while Roundup kills it great, don’t. It also kills what works the best in control which is a good stand of grass. Dad loved to kill it with roundup but only made it worse, especially around fences. It took me years to get it under control and I still fight it in my fence.
Best time to kill it is in the fall, Crossbow and 24d next best is earl spring followed by right now with a mower.
On the plus side cattle do eat it when it’s young and tender especially the leafy part but stop when it starts to get tree like.
I have never lost any cattle to it, that I know of. They seem to know when it’s bad and avoid it.
I've read the poison is in the sap, that’s why cows won’t touch that part it’s sticky and foul smelling
