Trying to unlock it, or actually open it?
It looks like you have to twist it to unlock before pulling it open. What are your options if you can't get it open? Is it easily replaceable?
I'd try to lube it up as well as possible and then get as rough as I needed IF it's easy to replace. Otherwise I might find a different route like a trash pump.
