Photos would definitely help. There's a good guess that it's the same as the 401 engines used in all the larger Ford tractors from the 1960's through the 1990's. 8000, 9000, 8600, 9600, 8700, 9700, tw10, tw20, tw30, tw5, tw15, tw25, tw35, 8530, 8630, 8730, and 8830.
