Subject: Weight loss and plateau

Pittsburg, Kansas
Wish I had an answer for that. Common problem, more so in women than men. My weight just melted off. Wife lost about half of what she wanted and stuck at that level 4 years now.

That question is always ask about any time low carb weight loss comes up. Various possibilities, but no magic bullets that I know of.

I know of one lady a couple years now of pretty strict carnivore and no weight loss. But her health has in many other ways improved so much she says she is never going back. But this lady has tremendous stress in her overall life. I suspect the stress hormones are preventing her weight loss.

In my wife's case we suspect that cheese could be a part of her weight loss problem. Cheese is a high calorie low satiety food. Very easy to over eat it. Pretty hard to over eat beef or pork. Satiety will kick in and say a person is "full". Not so much so with cheese. Very dense energy with the fat that is in it so can consume many calories with low satiety signals. We try to not get carried away with portion size for cheese. We are on full feed for meat but try to be a bit more limited with cheese. Still eat quite a lot though as she uses cream cheese and cream for gravies and such.

Those are just a couple of possible stalls. No smoking guns. Very common question and problem.

My wife and I do not worry about her last pounds to lose. The dangerous visceral fat comes off first. So I think she is healthy. The fat that jiggles on the belly is just naturally stored up groceries and not all that unhealthy. So I tell her to not to worry about it. It will come off when it gets good and ready.

Be getting on the boat soon and I am too cheap to buy internet access on the cruise. So no AgTalk for a week (as the AgTalk community sighs with relief, LOL)
