Pittsburg, Kansas | I think I can answer at least a portion of those questions based on what I think I have learned.
On the first part, the body does all it can to maintain proper blood sugar levels. The liver never intentionally over produces glucose. It would only over produce because insulin resistance has messed up the signaling and it is getting incorrect signals.
When we eat excess carbs too often and too many years some of the insulin receptors get insulin resistant (but not all, certain types of cells stay insulin sensitive). Then things start to go amuck.
So the liver has no reason to over produce glucose. It would only do so because of incorrect signaling because of insulin resistance. It is a demand driven feature. No demand from the body (like low blood glucose), no production.
If that makes sense.
