Subject: RE: Anyone Remember Homelite and McCulloch Chainsaws

Cleveland, MS. Own small farm near Booneville, MS

About 1978 my cousin was bragging on his McCullough 10-10(?). I had a new Stihl 031 AV. I had just had the chain sharpened so I offered to go side by side to see which one would get through the log first. The 031 won by a couple of seconds. In about 1964 my dad bought a new Poulan. It had a manual oiler, weighed a ton, and was very slow compared to later saws, but it was a long ways ahead of an axe and crosscut saw.

Edit to add picture. This is not a picture of Dad's saw but it is the same model.
