It wasn't until recent that I saw first hand how there is also a delay with radar signature and also gaps in coverage. Was watching, in person, a wall cloud lowering west of my location. Looked on the radar and it didn't show anything in regards to rotation or that there was a hook echo or anything else typical. The storm moved out of view behind a hill. By the time storm chasers and spotters confirmed a tornado, the storm and tornado had already traveled between five to ten miles north to northeast before a tornado warning was issued.
