These never lose their leaves. And produce acorns. California Coastal Live Oaks.

The leaves have oil in them to help stop water loss. If the trees are heathy the leaves we burn very quickly but the tree will survive a wild fire. If there is a lot of dead wood from branches or whole trees that have died, the heat can get to be enough to kill the tree.
