Subject: RE: Heart ablation?

Thumb of Michigan
I was in Afib a few years back. Didn't realize I was, some do though. Had a cardioversion first, only worked for a couple days. Cardiologist suggested an ablation. As others stated from what I can tell, the biggest concern was bleeding at the insertion site afterwards. Had to lay still for a while after the procedure in the recovery room. And- the Afib was back in a couple days. Went back a week later, did another cardioversion. That was good for 3 days. I'm a slow learner obviously. Cardiologist suggested I get a Kardiamobile and check every day, come back in a month. So I did, and Afib continued right up until the day before the last Dr visit. Was out of Afib finally and haven't had a reoccurrence.

I was already on blood thinners, so no one seemed quite as concerned about Afib with me as they would have been without blood thinners. I lost a good friend a couple years ago to complications related to Afib, he wasn't on blood thinners at the time he fell ill. May heave saved him had he been on them, it was blood clots that got him.

Point is that the ablation wasn't an issue for me recovery wise. I took it easy for a day or 2, but wasn't too limiting.
