NW Washington
The Southeast US has lots of live oaks that never lose their leaves. But an oak with needles instead of leaves is new to me.
Maybe it is a Pin Oak. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quercus_palustris

Google only finds two main oak trees in Ireland, and they both have leaves. Here is a Wikipedia on the main one. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quercus_petraea#:~:text=Quercus%20petr...

The larch is a conifer tree that loses its needles in the fall. They are easy to spot in the conifer forest in the Pacific NW in the fall when they turn color. They are used to make lumber. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Larch
