Southern Indiana
I think a guy should always prioritize buying ground around his house or operation... You always get the chance of having aggravating neighbors or hard telling what. The last farm i bought was more than i wanted to pay but the word on the street was the other guy bidding had plans to build turkey houses across the road from mom n dad's house. Always something... Now across the road from me is an abandoned coal yard on top of a big man made hill on 60 acres that i worked at from 2011-2021. Its tied up in bankruptcy court and dad had a meeting on reclamation issues the other day with the guy in charge of the bond/reclamation of it. He was informed there is interest in building turkey buildings up there by someone if the 60 acres is ever sold and liquidated. ALWAYS SOMETHING... You handled your situation well enough. He prob just couldnt plant and needed something to do...
